Ganges boats

This is the view over the Ganges River from the terrace of the Vishnu Guest House in Varanasi. Nice, right? However, the Ganges, although it is sacred to the Hindus, is one of the dirtiest and most polluted rivers in the world. On its journey across the holy city, the fecal bacteria pollution is 120 times the limit considered to be safe for bathing.
